Clapton Youth Ministries – Annual Youth Retreat

For the past 10 years the Clapton Youth Ministry Team has engaged our young people in an Annual Youth Retreat. We believe that such retreats allow our young people to experience God in a different environment, build relationships with each other, learn more about themselves, and engage in activities that wouldn’t normally be accessible in an inner city area.

In August 2008 we hosted our youth retreat at the Sayers Croft Field Centre. It was a wonderful time for our young people to participate in outdoor activities, team building exercises, and have time out from their daily routines. Our young people were able to take part in activities such as abseiling, archery, night forest walks, team challenges and many more!

Our youth retreats are designed to have a combination of outdoor and indoor activities, and devotional workshops. The activities are designed to challenge our young people to develop problem solving skills, inter-personal skills, build self esteem, and raise morale within a group setting. The devotional workshops are designed to be a time where God is truly at the centre. Our devotions seek to provoke thought and discussion among our youth about their

relationship with God, their views and standards, and to educate them further on their faith.

The focus of last years retreat was ‘Love’. The aim of the retreat was to develop positive relationships among the youth and youth leaders, further understand God’s love towards us, and to enjoy the opportunity of taking time out. Our young people were able to spend time examining the different types of love and the relevance that these have to them in their day to day lives. It was an opportunity for them to be free to express themselves in a safe environment, and to tackle an issue that often gets very confusing in today’s society.

This years Youth Retreat will be taking place on 29th – 31st August 2009. The venue will be the Halls Green Barnabas Adventure Centre. This short time away, promises to be a fun packed weekend. It will challenge and equip our young people to further develop into the future ministries and leadership roles, both secular and within the church community, which God has in store for them.

We look forward to seeing you there!
